When thinking about the binary system, a series of zeros and ones on the computer, it is inherently similar to woven and knit structure. I was interested in this binary system when it is overlapped with other systems such as color, structure, pattern and how the interaction with materials can create a fabric that feels alive, and embedded. Using this concept, I created a collection of upholstered fabrics intended to be used in shared spaces such as libraries, offices, cultural centers etc.
